| International Master Programmes around the Baltic Sea
The area around the Baltic Sea can be called a region of higher
education. Since 1990, no group of actors within the region has
been more actively engaged in joining forces and creating new networks
for transnational co-operation than universities and research institutions.
The Baltic Sea region has thus much to offer for both students and
teachers.
One of the most promising innovations in this context has been
the development of Baltic Sea Region Studies. This area studies
programme, which is the result of the co-operation among 11 universities
in all Baltic Sea countries, entails two years of academic training
in politics, history, economy, and culture of the Baltic Sea region
in order to qualify students to obtain the degree of a "Master
in Baltic Sea Region Studies". Several universities in the
region have already implemented the new master programme, namely
in Turku (Finland) and Tartu (Estonia), at the University of Latvia
(Riga), and at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania).
On the pages listed below you find detailled information on the
offerings of the participating universities: Turku | Tartu | Riga | Kaunas
