For annotation of the pHG1 nucleotide sequence, we have programmed a proprietary annotation workbench called GeneSOAP. GeneSOAP is a PC based program with a graphical interface to aid users in manual and semi-automatic annotation of contigs. GeneSOAP imports NCBI GENBANK files and thus can also be used to explore annotated genomes. Data are stored in an SQL database which is accessed through the graphical interface. GeneSOAP was written by Rainer Cramm.
