Research in the Kneipp group is focused on a better understanding of the chemical and physical basis of biological phenomena with the help of sensitive spectroscopic methods. It combines concepts of modern developments in spectroscopy, nanotechnology, and chemistry with the overall objective of laying groundwork for sensitive optical detection tools. We have decided to integrate enhancement and high lateral resolution in vibrational spectroscopic experiments with complex microstructured bioorganic systems, e.g., in development of new markers and sensors to be used in cells based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).

Currently we focus our research interests on

  1. SERS Nanoprobes

  2. Design of New Substrates and Probes for SERS

  3. 2-Photon SERS (SEHRS)

  4. Raman Microspectroscopy on Complex Samples

  5. MULTIBIOPHOTONICS
