Metabolic signaling
Photosynthesis produces reduced metabolites from oxidized substrates. Metabolite-dependent signaling is intuitively essential to activate compensatory pathways, but is poorly understood. First concepts have been put forward to explain the regulatory effects of sugars on the expression of nuclear photosynthetic genes and on plant metabolism.
