born in 1961 in Halle/Saale. 1980-1986 study of Musicology, as well as Vietnamese studies at Charles University Prague.
1985-1991 scientific assistant at the Humboldt-University Berlin (lectures continuing until 1994). Dr. phil. in Musicology at
Humboldt University Berlin. In 1992 Director of the South East Asian Department of the German East Asia Institute Berlin.
996/97 lectures at the universities in Rostock, Berlin and Vienna. 1997 Habilitation in Ethnomusicology / Comparative Musicology at the
University Vienna. 1998/99 Project manager of the German Vietnamese co-oparation: Complete audio recordings of the South Vietnamese
"Music of the Talented" in Ho Chi Minh City.
1999-2001 scientific project manager at the national Library of laos in Vientiane, lectures at the Dongdok University Vientiane.
2001-2002, as well as 2005 guest lectures at the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven, and at the University Vienna.
2003-2005 temporarily professorship in Musicology (C3) at the University Paderborn / Music Academy Detmold.
2003-2008 temporarily professorship in Musicology (W2) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt a.M.
2006/07 also temporarily professorship at the University Vienna.
