The Academic Year 2018/2019

Rehearsals

We rehearse in the Humboldt-University Building at Hegelplatz (Dorotheenstr. 24) every Monday from 8 pm until 10 pm.

In addition, we have rehearsals on one or two weekends per semester. Frequently, these rehearsals take place at the college of music in Rheinsberg (Musikakademie Rheinsberg) where, on one hand, we focus on music, and, on the other hand, foster social life in the choir.

Voice training

Each singer in our choir benefits from an individual voice training. This training is given by the professional soprano Liobana Gomez Raboteaux and takes place in parallel to our regular rehearsals on Monday.

Most important next dates

  • Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2018 Rehearsal weekend in Rheinsberg
  • Dec 20, 2018 Concert Noël Nouvelet

Our expectations

The choirʼs repertoire contains a lot of Renaissance pieces and contemporary music for up to eight voices. Performing this music in a small ensemble requires a high degree of self-assurance of every singer and to accept responsibility for the own voice. At the same time, it is essential to carefully listen to your neighbor and to integrate into the choirʼs blending.

Typically, the music must be learned and rehearsed in a short time. Therefore, we demand from every singer to very regularly attend rehearsals and – if necessary – to practice pieces at home. Experience in choir singing and sight-singing abilities will make the start in our choir much easier, but are not mandatory.

In a nutshell, we search for enthusiastic and motivated singers who enjoy singing in a small group and are willing to also accept a challenge. We look forward to meeting you!

Getting started

The best time to get started in our choir is when a new academic semester begins or when we have started a new project. Nevertheless, you are welcome to contact us any time and we will be happy to arrange a suitable date with you.

If you are interested in getting to know our choir, you can actively join us during a particular rehearsal. An audition (being as relaxed as possible) will then decide about your final admission to the choir.

Contact

In order to contact us, just drop a short message to our conductor, Rainer Ahrens (e-mail: r.ahrens@posteo.de, phone: 030 6271641)

or just visit one of our rehearsals.
