Bezeichnung für Sätze, deren Äußerung in erster Linie eine emotionale Beteiligung des Sprechers an einer im Äußerungskontext als wahr akzeptierten Proposition ausdrückt, z.B.

Wie groß der ist!
Wie groß ist der!
Dass der so groß geworden ist!
Die betreffenden Äußerungen zählen zu den >Expressiven.
Die Eigenständigkeit des Exklamativsatzes als >Satztyp mit einem speziellen >Satzmodus ist problematisch, da die Struktur der betreffenden Sätze häufig der Struktur eines >Deklarativsatzes, Imperativsatzes (>Imperativ), Interrogativsatzes (>Fragesatz) oder eines abhängigen Satzes entspricht.
Beispielsweise spricht sich Rosengren (1997) dafür aus, dass Exklamativsätze als Deklarativsätze oder Interrogativsätze expliziert werden sollten; d’Avis (2001) vertritt die Auffassung, dass w-Exklamativsätze als w-Interrogativsätze erfasst werden sollten, wobei spezifische lexikalische, grammatische und prosodische Eigenschaften dieser Sätze (insbesondere ein so genannter Exklamativ-Akzent) in einer Äußerung eine Illokution 'Exklamation' bedingen sollen.
