Baltic Region Studies
The Department of Regional Studies at Vytautas Magnus University
in Kaunas offers Baltic Region Studies in the form of both non-degree
and master degree programmes.
Non-degree programme
The Baltic Region Studies programme is one academic year (autumn
and spring semesters) non-degree programme intended for exchange
or visiting students or anyone who is interested in it. The aim
of this programme is to increase communication between East and
West and guarantee a larger degree of co-operation. Baltic Studies
deal with specific issues of the Baltic countries, especially their
culture and politics, and is intended for those scholars and researchers
(both students and professors) from abroad who are keen on international
co-operation or aim at better knowledge of the Baltic region.
Courses given in English reveal cultural peculiarities, historical
development and the present day situation of the Baltic countries
to foreigners who, due to the previous political isolation of the
Baltic States, the existing language barriers as well as scarce
publications in the international press, did not have access to
information about these countries. The Baltic programme could pave
a path for a real partnership and international co-operation, encouraging
scholars to focus their attention on issues of regional concern.
Duration: one/two semesters
Tuition fee: 3200 LT (930 EUR) per semester
Registration fee: 100 LT (30 EUR)
