Voted to membership, August 1972, in the Sociological Research Association, an honorific national association then limited to 150 members of the American Sociological Association. Election is based on
making a "significant contribution to sociological research and... advancing sociological knowledge."
I was one of three awardees to receive the first Educational Foundation for Human Sexuality Award given in June 1970, "For outstanding contributions to the advancement of public understanding in the
field of human sexuality." The other two awardees were Alan Guttmacher and Wardell Pomeroy.
The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), in January of 1969 presented me with a Citation "in recognition of distinguished service" to that organization.
Elected to a fellow in the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality in 1966 for "having made significant contributions to the field of sexual research and knowledge."
Received a Danforth Seminar Award in the summer of 1958 to participate in a two-week seminar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, on "Interpretations of Religion in Sociological
Theory."
