I'm a student of History and English interested in the relationship of
gender and political philosophy. Athough I'm interested in second wave
feminist concepts as sexual politics (K.Millett) and compulsory
heterosexuality (A.Rich) I prefer to compare theories of conspicuous
consumption, i.e. the relationship between economics and gender
relations. Economics seems to me at the core of gender inequality so I
believe it fruitful to go back to 19th century writings, for example by
Thorstein Veblen (co-founder of the New School) or early feminist
writers like Charlotte Perkins Gilman and to compare gender notions of
John Stuart Mill to those of J.J. Rousseau. During my exchange year at
Brown and Harvard University I worked as a research assistant on
cultural trauma and shame. Following this, I completed an internship at
the Division of the Advancement of Women at the United Nations
Headquarters in New York. Although I've been a science fiction fan all
my life, I recently became more interested in the scientific background
wondering which ideas in fiction are feasible in astrophysics.
