Elmar Narayan

Elmar Narayan went to Louisenlund boarding school before obtaining his Abitur at the Ostendorf Gymnasium, Lippstadt in 1999. He then worked as the Assistant of the Manager TV Services at Grey advertising agency in Düsseldorf. After developing mobile value added services for Sonera Zed Germany, Düsseldorf for a short time, he enrolled at the Westfälische Wilhems-Universität, Münster in 2000 and changed to the Humboldt-Universität in 2002, where he studies English/American Studies and Modern History and works as a tutor for exchange students at the IES Berlin.

Defining Identity - A Look at the Identity of Sinti and Roma in Europe and Germany

Dominik Jungermann and Elmar Narayan are taking a look at the Sinti and Roma in Germany and Europe. They conducted interviews with various interest groups and representatives of the German government to give an overview of the different positions on minority rights regarding and the situation of the Sinti and Roma in Germany. Special attention will be paid to the different concepts of minority identity.
