The greenCHEM Hackathon is a 3-day, team-based event focused on developing early-stage solutions for challenges in green chemistry and material innovation. Participants work on topics provided in collaboration with industry, addressing practical needs related to sustainability, resource use, and process innovation.

In 2025, the greenCHEM Hackathon features NEEW Ventures, the venture builder of EEW - Energy from Waste, Germany’s leading waste incineration company. This year they posed three challenges to the participants:

  1. Turning captured CO2 into climate solutions
  2. Giving fly ash a second life
  3. Recycling/reusing glass-fibre reinforced plastics (GFK) from wind turbines

The format emphasizes ideation, concept development, and digital modelling—no lab work required. Teams will be supported by mentors and use structured tools to prototype ideas and present them at the end of the event, competing for a prize of up to 3.000 €.

Whether you're from chemistry, engineering, material sciences, design, business, or related fields, this is an opportunity to apply your skills to a current, real-world challenge in collaboration with others.

Registrations are open until 30.09.2025 at: https://events.tu-berlin.de/en/events/0198a3f7-f669-73f0-914e-298c2453efd9/apply
