Intercultural communication at university

Communication in English actually works quite well for me - and yet I keep experiencing misunderstandings in communication with the administration, with the teachers and with fellow students? How much honesty and how much politeness in communication do I expect, and are expected of me? How do I get the information I need and how do I communicate in different situations? What is the importance of small talk, humour and taboo topics in communication?
In this workshop, we will ask ourselves to what extent communication is influenced by "culture". We will look at theoretical approaches to intercultural communication and examine and experience different communication styles. We will deal with theoretical approaches to intercultural communication as well as with very concrete examples from everyday university life.
