The Newton was pre-loaded with a variety of software to aid in personal data organization and management. This included sch pplications as Notes, Names ans Dates, as well as a variety of productivity tools such as a calculator, conversion calculators (metric conversions, currency conversions, etc), time-zone maps, etc.
The Newton OW consists of three layers. At the lowest level. A microkernel handles resources like tasks and memory. On top of the microkernel. The bulk of the operating system is implemented in C++, including the communications layer. Handwriting recognition and the Newton Script environment.
