When I started my PhD the lattice was a huge black box for me, which magically gave some physical result. In my talk I want to open this black box and explain how we get from lattice results, or “just numbers” to actual physical results in physical units like fm or GeV. I will briefly discuss the lattice QCD action, try to explain how we introduce a scale into our theory and how we choose the bare parameters in the action such that we recover real physics in the continuum limit.
