We strongly encourage people underrepresented in the field to apply. These internships would provide opportunities to work with mentors from the RTG.

Internships can be as long as 3 months and should not be shorter than 1 month. The internships are financially supported with a stipend of 600 euros per month and up to 600 euros to cover travel expenses to come to Berlin.

Internships can be done either in summer terms (February to August) and winter terms (September to January). The next deadline for internships in the winter term is July 14, 2025.

Your application for an internship should include a letter of motivation, a CV, copies of transcripts and certificates (in a single pdf file!). Please include the name and contact details of at least one person who can provide a letter of recommendation upon request. In addition, please indicate one or more research areas you are interested in to do your internship.

Please send your application via email to rtg2575@
(followed by physik.hu-berlin.de). Questions about the program can be sent to the above email.

Q&A with Former Interns

The internship program is a great way to learn about research topics in quantum field theory and theoretical physics, to get a feel for what a research career is like, and to establish a professional network outside one’s home university. See this post to read about the experiences our former interns have shared with us.

Non-Standard Models (outreach)

The RTG recognizes the importance of a wide range of views for fresh ideas and progress.
Since its inception its members have strived to advance non-standard ideas and identities, perspectives and persons (m/f/d), and share these with the wider public. Speakers will discuss both technical aspects of their work and their career paths. Connection through Zoom will be available.

For more information see our concept flyer here.

If you would like to sign up and get notifications about this series, please fill out this form.

Current Schedule (click for current updates)

Fri 24.
