Leben und Mystik Simone Weils (1909-1943)” -\, Mae Bengert will speak on “Transmigration of the Soul into the Now: Simone Weil\, Christian Mysticism\, and Zen Buddhism.” Her contribution highlights one of the conference’s most compelling perspectives\, bringing Simone Weil’s thought into dialogue with Christian mysticism and Zen. Under the theme Attentive and Resistant\, the conference invites participants to engage Weil’s life and work through lectures\, workshops\, worship\, and meditation from 1 to 3 May 2026 in Magdeburg.

DESCRIPTION:At EuARe 2026 in Rome\, Tom Sojer will speak in the panel “Simone Weil and Political Theology” with a paper entitled “The Violence of the Good? Simone Weil and the Risk of Political Theology.” His presentation argues that the strength of Weil’s political theology and its danger arise from the same source: the subordination of politics to an absolute order of truth and the good. In this way\, the paper reads Weil as a thinker whose radical spiritual clarity both deepens the analysis of domination and exposes the risk that moral absolutes may harden into political coercion.
