embodied experience merges the individual with the \u2018primordial\u2019 void (le vide) she calls \u2018God\u2019 (Weil, <i>Notes<\/i>, 2004). The contours of this void are found through physical engagement with reality where the material world manifests the absence of God as a hyper-presence. In this respect, the present close reading considers Weil\u2019s idea of the transference of attention and the \u2018alliance between matter and real feelings\u2019, inquiring into her claim that \u2018[t]he joy and spiritual significance of the feast is situated within the special delicacy associated with the feast\u2019 (Weil, <i>First &amp; Last Notebooks<\/i>,
