The dissertation, When Infrastructure is a Verb, is an intense experiment of theorizing and storytelling replete with cross-cutting lives of people, organizations, and things awkwardly engaged in the current sanitary infrastructure projects in Jakarta, where sewerage systems serve only a tiny part of the polluted megacity, whereas the majority make do with heterogeneous and conflicting stopgap measures, ad hoc rules, makeshift contraptions, translocal knowledges, and vernacular values.
