
{"id":99,"date":"2021-12-06T10:26:43","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T10:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.hu-berlin.de\/stadtlabor\/?post_type=person&#038;p=99"},"modified":"2023-12-13T18:30:28","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T18:30:28","slug":"tomas-criado","status":"publish","type":"person","link":"https:\/\/www2.hu-berlin.de\/stadtlabor\/person\/tomas-criado\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom\u00e1s Criado"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My name\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Tom\u00e1s S\u00e1nchez Criado<\/strong>&nbsp;(twitter:&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tscriado\" target=\"_blank\">@tscriado<\/a>&nbsp;| mastodon:&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/assemblag.es\/@tscriado\" target=\"_blank\">@tscriado<\/a>)&nbsp;and I am an anthropologist with specialisation in STS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"complete_text\">Between April 2018 and October 2022,&nbsp;I was&nbsp;<strong>Senior&nbsp;Researcher<\/strong> and <strong>Director<\/strong> of the Stadtlabor for Multimodal Anthropology, where I remain attached as <em>associate researcher<\/em>.<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I now work in Barcelona as&nbsp;<strong>Ram\u00f3n y Cajal Senior Research Fellow<\/strong>&nbsp;in the Social Sciences at the Open University of Catalonia\u2019s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/carenet.in3.uoc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">CareNet-IN3 group<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My ethnographic and public engagement work focuses on different instances of&nbsp;relational,&nbsp;knowledge&nbsp;and&nbsp;material politics&nbsp;in a wide variety of settings where&nbsp;care&nbsp;is invoked as a&nbsp;mode of intervention: be it as a practice of articulating more or less enduring&nbsp;ecologies of support; or as a particular mode of&nbsp;technoscientific activism&nbsp;democratising knowledges, design practice and infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am currently writing a book on&nbsp;how bodily diversity comes to matter in city-making, titled&nbsp;<em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tscriado.org\/publications\/anuncommoncity\/\" target=\"_blank\">An Uncommon City: Bodily Diversity and the Activation of Possible Urbanisms<\/a><\/em>. Besides, I\u2019m beginning to imagine an expansion of this&nbsp;research line&nbsp;to the study of the genealogy and challenges of&nbsp;ageing-friendly cities \/ late life urbanism, paying special attention to the mutual transformations of bodies and urban infrastructures that the Euro-American \u2018baby boomers\u2019 are both an effect and a vector of. I call this&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/tscriado.org\/research\/thebodyandthecity\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/tscriado.org\/research\/thebodyandthecity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an inquiry into boomer landscapes<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These interests have also led me to&nbsp;experiment with devices for anthropological inquiry&nbsp;(exploring inventive forms of collaborative inquiry where multimodality could be understood not just or not only as \u2018in a plurality of media\u2019 but rather \u2018in a plurality of relational and epistemic modes\u2019). As part of this work I have been invested in convening&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/tscriado.org\/research\/#collaborative-venues\" target=\"_blank\">collective venues<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;multimodal ethnography and collaborative pedagogy, such as&nbsp;<em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/xcol.org\/ethnographic-inventory\/\" target=\"_blank\">xcol.
