{"id":1411,"date":"2017-09-21T00:39:01","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T22:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ethnoserver.hu-berlin.de\/sts\/?page_id=1411"},"modified":"2025-08-15T15:24:27","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T13:24:27","slug":"josties","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.hu-berlin.de\/sts\/people\/associated\/josties\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonna Josties"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left;clear: left\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.hu-berlin.de\/sts\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Jonna_2020_pic.jpg\" alt=\"Jonna Josties\" width=\"170\" height=\"170\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of European Ethnology at Humboldt University Berlin and a member of the Laboratory: Anthropology of Environment\u00a0I Human\u00a0Relations.<\/p>\n<p>My dissertation explores how the ecosystem concept, first coined in the early 20th century, is applied to technologically driven economic and social practices that connect urban regions like San Francisco and Berlin today.<\/p>\n<p>During my field studies, I have been a Fulbright visiting scholar at the Department of Anthropology, University of California, Berkeley. My current areas of research and interest are socio-cultural anthropology, economic anthropology, science and technology studies, and urban anthropology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">I graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in History and European Ethnology and and master\u2019s degree in European Ethnology from Humboldt University Berlin and studied abroad in Anthropology at the
