The working group “Core Subjects” of the Committee of Women’s and Gender Studies Institutions in German-speaking Areas is centred around questions such as:
1) Are Women’s and Gender Studies a discipline in their
own right? What constitutes a discipline? How are Women’s and Gender Studies
connected to other disciplines?
2) What influences the canon building process? Where are
the blank spaces left out? Which disciplines, schools and epistemes are most
influential? Are they representative for Women’s and Gender Studies in German-speaking
areas?
3) What are the aims and didactic means of teaching Gender
Studies? What kind of competences and subjects should be taught?
