“What becomes of agency in a more-than-human world?”
metaxy[l]ophon: Our new event series
We are always searching for new ways of thinking and working together in order to find inspiring and innovative ways of working in collectives, communities and networks that supplement ‘regular’ academic events such as workshops, conferences and seminars. This continuous search has yielded our new online event series, the “metaxy[l]ophon.”
The ancient Greek word ‘metaxy’ means ‘in-between’ and is one of the most significant notions in Simone Weil’s thinking. The ‘metaxy’ refers to relations, or more precisely, to relationality. It links and separates at the same time. The “xylophone” (German ‘Xylophon’ without ‘e’ at the end) helps us to listen attentively: to words but also to spaces between the words, to rhythm and sound.
We envision the “metaxy[l]ophon” as an open series of table-talk-like dialogues lasting roughly one hour. These dialogues will briefly interrupt and simultaneously enrich everyday life: Two researchers, theorists or artists sit at a virtual table in order to think and talk.
