Guilherme Godoy
I am based in Maceió, in the Northeast of Brazil. I have a Law degree from Brazil and a Master’s in Criminology from the University of Porto. I lived in Portugal between 2014 and 2017, for 3 years and 3 months. I went there to pursue my master’s degree, and during that time, I had the opportunity to present my work on panels at international criminology conferences, such as Eurocrim and the European Group for the Study of Deviance and Social Control. My research mainly focuses on drug regulation, and lately I’ve been exploring its connection with restorative practices, as a form of informal social control and transitional justice. I work as a Law professor and conflict mediator. I am currently taking a PhD course in Law (as a special student) in Brazil.

I am a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Brasília, Brazil, with an M.A. in Political Sociology and a B.A. in Social Sciences. I was an international doctor fellow at the University of Freiburg, Germany (2023 – 2024), and a visiting student at the University of Hradec Králové, Czechia (summer semester, 2019). My research interests revolve around the asymmetries in the production and circulation of knowledge, the internationalization of science and scientific careers, and the geopolitics of knowledge. On my dissertation, I examine the internationalization of academic careers in Sociology, focusing on center-periphery dynamics from a critical and relational perspective.
