TRANSCIENCE

Transcience Journal provides two issues a year. The deadline for submissions is end of February for the first issue and end of August for the second issue. The articles should reflect the core concerns and the mission of the journal, and would be situated across, in-between, or beyond boundaries that fragment an understanding of global issues.

Submission guidelines

We encourage post-graduate students, junior scholars, and non-academics to submit articles of high quality. Senior scholars may, in addition, use our journal to publish review articles, theoretical or methodological papers, and opinion pieces. A limited number of book reviews are also published, preferably those that bring marginalized works to light or that cast a new light on major works.
Articles should be written in English -- either American or British. Articles for Transcience should generally not exceed 10,000 words. Each submission should be accompanied by a cover letter with the author's name, postal address, phone number and e-mail address, as well as a brief biographical statement, a 100-200 word abstract, and a word count. Submissions should be in MS Word, Times New Roman font, 12-point. There should be as little formatting as possible, authors should especially refrain from using macros and auto-format. Material for publication can be submitted as an e-mail attachment, preferably in MS word. Since submissions are refereed anonymously, the author's name should appear only on the cover sheet. Notes should be endnotes not footnotes. Maps should be prepared where the topography is important for an understanding of the text. Photographs should specifically enhance the text and carry full captions and attributions. Maps, photographs and diagrams should be submitted in separate files with an indication of their approximate placement in the text. Quotations should be in double quotation marks followed by the source in brackets (author year, page).
By submitting an article, the author guarantees that the article does not contain plagiarized material. Each quotation has to be indicated by clearly stating the source. Any piece of text exceeding 350 characters and any table or illustration that has been published before or is accepted for publication elsewhere is considered plagiarism if the source is not clearly indicated and if the text does not appear in quotation marks.

Citations and reference list entries should be formatted according to the Chicago-style author-date system:
Full name. Year. Title. Place: Publisher.
Full name. Year. "Title." Journal vol(no): x-xx.

Review process by the editorial board

The editorial board assesses all submissions and decides whether they should be sent for peer review. The editorial board retains the right to proceed with a desk rejection without sending the article out for peer review if it decides that the submission does not meet the standards of Transcience. If the submission passes this first evaluation, it will be sent out for peer review.

Peer review

All accepted submissions will go through a double-blind peer review process by two experts in the field and will be published online upon acceptance. The entire process will be handled online, and comments and revisions will be provided to the contributors as soon as they become available. The ultimate decision on the publication of the article remains with the editorial board.

Editing and final layout

Once the author has produced a final draft of their article taking into account the notes and revisions suggested by the peer reviewers, the submission will be sent out to proofreaders.
After the proofreading process, the editors will proceed with the final layout. The author will be invited to have one final look at the article before publication.
The copyright remains with the author.
There are no charges whatsoever levied by the journal to authors or readers.
