Research project

I am using methods from quantum field theory to derive results in classical general relativity with special focus on the two-body problem and gravitational-wave physics. Here, the post-Minkowskian expansion of the two-body problem is elegantly derived from diagrammatic computations of amplitudes. In contrast to the post-Newtonian expansion, it assumes no limit on the velocity of the two gravitationally interacting objects. Current goals are to improve methods for computations of dissipative effects and to include features of the interacting objects such as spin or tidal effects.
