This is the last Student Seminar of this semester and we will hear talks from Tim Meier and Raj Patil.

1st Talk

Speaker: Tim Meier

Title: Twist noncommutative N=4 SYM

Abstract:
“I will give a short review on the spin chain picture for the planar anomalous dimension of gauge invariant operators of N=4 SYM. I will further introduce to the framework of integrable noncommutative deformations of N=4 SYM and its connection to the AdS/CFT correspondence. I will introduce gauge invariant operators in the deformed theory and will construct a spin chain picture for the calculation of their planar anomalous dimension.”

2nd Talk

Speaker: Raj Patil

Title: Gravitational Waves using Effective Field Theories

Abstract:
“I will review the formalism of Effective Field Theories to model the two-body system emitting GWs [arXiv:0409156]. Here, the classical gravitational two-body Hamiltonian and Flux is computed in terms of multi-loop Feynman diagrams. These two-body effective Hamiltonian governs the conservative dynamics of the binary and the Flux governs the dissipative dynamics of the binary. Hence, precise Hamiltonian and Flux, are the key elements in the construction of gravitational wave templates which are essential for precise and accurate parameter estimation of the gravitational wave sources.”
