Abstract:

Since the beginning of the student seminars, I have been speaking about string dualities and string corrections in cosmological backgrounds. In particular, I always made use of the so-called “cosmological classification” but I never went over the details of one of the most important ingredients to arrive at such formulation: field redefinitions. The day has come, and in this talk, I will explain how, in cosmological backgrounds, this tool can be used to eliminate all ambiguous couplings in the action in a systematic and iterative way. In particular, we will demonstrate the full potential of the method by restricting it to Friedmann-Robertson-Walker backgrounds and showing that therein ALL string corrections can be redefined away.
