In general, computing observables in QFTs beyond leading order demands to solve loop integrals. The integrand is commonly organised in such a way that all loop integrals can be written as elements of families of scalar loop integrals. One step in achieving this is to reduce all loop integrals of tensor rank to a linear combination of scalar loop integrals. This procedure is the focus of this talk. Based on an intriguing method presented in [arXiv:2308.14701v2], I will review how to generate all independent tensors of a fixed rank and fixed set of external momenta in a way reminiscent of Wick contractions. I will also comment on the generation of the duals to these tensors.
