For the student seminar of this week we will have Jitze Hoogeveen with a talk on Schwinger’s path to propagators and beyond. Details are below.
Time: Wed., January 28, 10.00 | Location: Seminar room 1.221
Abstract: Often our crafty academic ancestors still provide insight to modern computations. This is the case for Schwinger’s proper time parametrisation of propagators – it combines insights from non-relativistic QM to compute 2-pt functions in relativistic theories with non-trivial backgrounds. We’ll motivate and introduce the formalism, and apply it to curved space graviton propagators in GR.

The talk will largely be based on [Schwartz, chap 33.2], [2311.03463] & [2406.10483].
