The one plot to know about the climate

Abstract: July 6th, 2023, was the warmest day ever registered on Earth. The second and third positions of this ranking are July 5th and July 4th, 2023. The climate crisis is impacting our personal life as well as our jobs as scientists. In this talk, we are giving an overview of the so-called “hockey-stick” graph describing the climate in the last 800.000 years by introducing the Snowball Earth model and stochastic resonance. We will then focus on the last 50 years of the plot to open the discussion about the role of scientists on a planet in crisis.
