Abstract: Cohomology is an extremely powerful tool, in that it is able to show some “hidden” properties of physical theories. Concurrently, differential geometry and group-manifold theory may provide us with a convenient language to study physical systems. In this talk, I will make extensive use of these techniques to construct, via some “simple” examples, the rules of an old yet very helpful (and painful!) prescription known as rheonomy. This approach will reveal to be useful in the construction of geometric Lagrangians for supergravity theories in superspace, where the cohomological properties play a crucial role. ACHTUNG: This is not a gravitational talk!!
