Abstract: I will present the basics of lattice field theory, with the aim to explain how expectation values of observables are calculated. The focus will be on the algorithmic side of things, in order to understand how most results in lattice field theory are obtained. This should hopefully give a rough idea of the inner workings of lattice field theory.
