‘Seeing like a city’ – in Houston, TX

The master’s program student research project “Seeing like a city” with Jörg Niewoehner visited Rice University in Houston, TX, the week of March 19 to present and discuss their findings on neurourbanism, stress and urban planning to undergraduate students at Brown College. A lively discussion ensued about the welfare state, the legacies of spatial segregation and the role of the private sector in regulating urban inequality. A ‘toxic tour’ with an environmental justice NGO in Houston completed the visit to the city of many faces – a success all around. Thanks to Humboldt and Rice for making this possible.
