We are happy to announce the funding and start of a “new” project contributing to the ethnography of social ecological modeling, which aims at situating materiality, difference and complexity in modeling practices through a comparative case study of three different research groups. “New” is set in quotation marks because this is not a new project within the context of the lab but a continuation of Anja Klein’s PhD research. The project is funded by the DFG and supervised by Prof. Jörg Niewöhner. The “new” project started with a short fieldtrip to visit a research group in Accra, working on impacts of climate change on diarrhea case numbers in coastal communities in Ghana. Part of this is the development of a statistical modeling platform and transdisciplinary work on mediating these impacts with the local communities in question.
