To make your journey easier and help you find accommodation, we have prepared some useful information for you. Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin does not have a university campus or university accommodation that can be provided to short-term visiting students. For this reason, we have gathered some possible options across the city that you can consider.

Summer University

Once you have been admitted to the program, we will provide recommendations, discount codes and practical tips to help you find a place to stay for the duration of the program.

Winter University

A limited number of apartments with the apartment provider Berlinovo is available for participants of the Winter University program. These apartments are only available for students taking courses starting from 4 January 2027. For participants of courses that begin on 18 January 2027, we will share accommodation options and discount codes from housing partners once you are accepted into the program.

Accommodation Type:

• Single room in a shared apartment (2 rooms per apartment)
• Shared living area, kitchen, and bathroom
• Apartments are fully furnished, including kitchen equipment
• Two participants share an apartment
• As a rule, people of the same sex are assigned to an apartment

Rooms can be booked during the online registration for your HUWISU course.

Rent: €460 for the duration of your program + €200 deposit (to be paid online during the registration process).

Arrival and Departure Dates (Check-in/Check-out) – Winter University 2027

(for courses starting on 4 January 2027)

Arrival / Check-in:

• Sunday, 3 January, from 14:00 to 20:00 (2.00 pm to 8.00 pm)

Departure / Check-out No. 1:

• Saturday, 16 January, from 08:00 to 12:00 (8.00 am to 12.00 pm)

Departure / Check-out No. 2 (only for students taking the Intensive Language course and students combining both winter sessions):

• Saturday, 30 January, from 08:00 to 12:00 (8.00 am to 12.00 pm)

It is not possible to move in or out of the apartments outside these hours. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.

Note:

• The apartments are not serviced/staffed, so there is no reception desk or service staff to assist with check-in and/or check-out at flexible times or dates.
• For this reason, the check-in/check-out dates and time windows are fixed and aligned with the program dates.
• Luggage storage is not possible.

The deposit will be refunded online after the end of the program. Bank charges and international transfer times will apply. If possible, please use a European bank account or a universal neo-bank with an IBAN to minimise charges and transfer duration.

The address of Humboldt-Universität’s main building is Unter den Linden 6, 10117 Berlin. Humboldt-Universität is not a typical campus university, meaning the classrooms are located in different parts of the city. However, all classrooms are in the district of Mitte, and Berlin’s public transportation is excellent.

For alternative options, you can check out hostels or flats in districts like Schöneberg, Wedding, Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Friedrichshain, or Prenzlauer Berg.

Shared Housing

Since the number of students and internationals staying in Berlin short-term or for an extended period is high, the flat-sharing market is very competitive. Several websites offer listings, and we hope you will find suitable accommodation.
